Travel insurance for Fiji
Travel insurance for Fiji is a crucial but often overlooked part of your booking. When you book your trip it’s so important these days to be on top of your insurance. We used to only think about lost luggage or a stolen camera, but Covid-19 precautions have obviously added another element to our trip planning.
You should check that your travel insurance for Fiji and other destinations not only takes care of the most basic needs but the unexpected as well.
Here are some basic things to consider when booking and what your insurance should cover.
The big one! What should I do if I test positive while overseas?
You should be okay.
Most travel insurance policies cover your costs relating to Covid-19. These include any expenses relating to quarantines, Covid-19 tests, cancelled flights and necessary medical visits.
This should be a given. Make sure that your insurance provider also covers you if you suddenly have to stay in your destination in case of a Covid outbreak.
This is probably the most important thing to consider when you choose your travel insurance.
Will your provider cover extended accommodation bills and any necessary medical costs?
Hopefully this won’t be an issue but it’s a much better holiday if you know you’re covered for these possibilities.
It’s great if you can finally get away, but what happens if the tour or activity you booked is suddenly cancelled? Will your travel insurance cover it?
This can be costly if your insurance doesn’t cover it. Check with any bookings to see if you can be refunded in the case of unexpected Covid-19 issues.
All smart operators have adapted to the new travel rules. You should be wary of any company that doesn’t offer any compensation or alternatives. They simply haven’t adapted to the new norm or aren’t worth your valuable dollars. Don’t risk it.
Cancellation policies should also cover extra expenses for quarantine costs if you get COVID-19 overseas. However, be careful. Not all cancellation policies cover cancellation or extra expenses for quarantine if you’re exposed to a close contact.
Basic medical care
This is always important. Make sure your insurance provider has medical cover for the country you’re planning to visit. Is there a reciprocal agreement? Will your insurance company pay for any medical bills that you may incur? We’re not talking about Covid-19 here, this is basic medical. If you fall over and twist your ankle or a zebra runs over your tent – can your insurance cover any hospital visits?
It’s not the most exciting part of booking but you’ll breathe easier and genuinely enjoy your travel if you tick the insurance boxes.
Again, this ties into your insurance related to Covid-19 What happens if there’s an outbreak in the country I’m visiting or returning to? Will my insurance cover any quarantine, tests and/or hotel and flight changes?
All worthy insurance providers should not only give you these options but also alert you to the possibilities.
